electrochemical cell

i thought that when writing the standard cell convention, you write the most negative half cell equation on the left, but then wen i did a past paper question they put the positive one on the left, it was the convention for measuring standard electrode potential of iron, so u had the standard hydrogen electrode, but why would it be on the right when the iron half cell is more negative :?

By convention, the S.H.E is always on the left when measuring the electrode potential of a half cell, despite the more negative value for iron.

Haha, no bother. Nothing in this convoluted subject is ever black and white. 😂 Good luck!
