National Audit Office Assessment Day

Hi All,

So I passed my NAO first round interview and got invited to the assessment day in mid November. Has anyone been to a NAO assessment day?

They have asked me to prepare a presentation for 10 mins. My topic is:
'How effective are our flood defences? Does the risk justify the cost?'
And then a 5 min question and answer session by some observers AND fellow candidates :s-smilie:

I imagine the group assessment and written case study will be like the PwC Assessment days, although any experience/advice would be welcome.

I was in a group of 4 people including my self. Two of us went to do a maths test (similar to the one in the email) and the other two went for their interview.

The interview was pretty straight forward, asking questions from our application. Since I had worked for part of the MoD in the summers, the interviewer asked me questions about that.

My advice would be to ask lots of questions at the very end. i.e to show that your interested in working for the company.

e.g Where can i see myself in 5 years time
What travel opportunaties are availalble in say youe training period.

Make sure you practice the maths test btw. Thats the most important thing since 2 candidates said they didnt like the test and found it hard.

I also got through to the next round. Wondering if you'd had your assessment day yet? And would mind giving me an idea of what to expect? It's my first assessment day so I haven't a clue!

Firstly, apologies for bringing up an old thread.

I have a forthcoming selection day with the NAO for the ACA scheme and I am concerned about the maths test.

Although I have studied Accouting at Uni which included a Mathematics module before, and have one years work experience as a Financial Analyst, I am very concerned by the practice maths test they have emailed me.

Is the pass rate really 23/30 and is the actual paper as difficult as the sample sent to me ?
