I'm thinking of applying provided that they accept my grades as I am not quite sure atm....

Are most of you taking 4 A-levels or 3 A-levels and 1 AS-level?

Hey I'm taking Chem, Bio, Maths and French........I got As in Chem Maths and French for AS the other day and an awkward B in Biology...............

I'm hoping to carry all four on though and try and get at least AAAA because I know I can....

But I don't know how much this B is going be looked down upon and I know the BMAT is really important so I'm hoping to do well in that and give them some justification into considering me...

Also working on my personal statement.....really wanted to apply to Oxford but a bit doubtful now.....not really sure if I should or not.... :/

How much do you guys think Imperial emphasises on BMAT compared to AS grades.....and what will they think if they see my predicted grades as AAAA or A*A*A*A when I have a B in not only Biology but one maths module as well which I am hoping to resit....even though I got A overall in AS maths.....

And what is the cut off point for BMAT by Imperial....I read somewhere that you need to get above 50% in each section....

Thanks x

Bro you make your own chances. If you do get an interview, I'd advise you to start being "serious"

I'm taking four a-levels but only because I did french a year early. I don't think it matters at all though

Hey, I don't think the B will be looked down on much.. I didn't do too well in my AS exams but I've read in many places that A2 predictions are more important than AS grades so don't worry! the bmat is very important for Imperial. They use the bmat as the starting point to decide who gets called for an interview, so if you do really well on the bmat you're likely to get an interview  the B in biology won't matter much because all they want as a minimum is 3A's at A2 so you're on track don't worry!

That's better than me! I got 4B's an a C :'( I obviously didn't work hard enough this year. But like you, I need to suck up to my teachers a lot now! :frown: I think you'll be fine tbh, you'll do well on the ukcat if you do consistent practice. and your grades really aren't bad at all! I don't think you'll have a problem with getting the predicted grades that you need
haha I've already started preparing for the bmat, it's my only hope now!

The UKCAT is an absolute nightmare......no matter how many questions I do I am never satisfied and feel like I'm going to fail it badly....literally been practising since July and done the book three times except the mock exam which I'll do the night before as well as the online test (s)....really hate it....ooohhh I suppose you could always ring up admissions and check criteria and whatever.....and yeah at least with the BMAT its knowledge based so that helps

I know what you mean! when I was preparing my ukcat, I always felt as if I could have done more! hahaha three times? wow! yeah I don't like the ukcat either, it's a nightmare. Yeah I could.. but I've searched through different threads about grades and I should be fine as long as I can get the necessary predicted grades and the rest of my application is good enough! I just pray that my teachers co-operate! :/
yeah I think that the bmat should be slightly easier in that sense

hey people was hoping you could help me.

I've decided Imperial would be a good place to apply for me. I currently have the grades needed for their course, although I had to go through a resit year due to extenuating circumstances. I will send out notes etc to all the universities that require it so that is not any problem.

Although I was wondering it anyone know what the BMAT cutoff and how they exactly use it in giving out interviews?

Any other information regarding academics and anything would be really appreciated  Thank youu :h:

Did you apply to Imperial in the 2011 UCAS cycle? Imperial only allow resit applicants from people who have applied to them before, but it might be different for you since you already have your grades. You should email them to find out. I believe that the cutoff last year was 4.9, 4.9, 2.5B. Most of the people who meet the cutoff as well as all of the other entry requirements are interviewed.

Yeah I've emailed them. They seemed quite happy about me applying as long as I have the grades in hand. (didn't apply to them last year)

Oh that doesn't seem too bad then. Hopefully this BMAT exam isn't too bad either! Thanks for the help
