does electromagnetic induction only create ac current, or can you create dc current as well? if you moved a wire perpendicular to a magnetic field in only one direction would this create a dc current??

also, I don't understand switch mode transformers? they operate at higher frequencies due to electronic circuits but why does this mean they can be lighter and smaller than normal transformers. also how do they use very little power even when they are switched on but there is no load
