OU to Brick and more

Hello,

I am about to start my second year (level 2) in the OU following the program for Mathematics and Physics (joint hons). I am wondering if its possible to transfer to a brick university during my last year and has anyone done this? I however did not finish A-level in the UK as I moved away and had other personal reasons. So I did some courses in Sweden first and then took a crack at the OU.

I am enjoying the OU experience so far, however I getting worried that I am lacking the social aspect and networking that comes along with being at a brick university which could hinder my future in the field.

Also is there any advice in looking into an intership coming from the open university along the lines of research in regards to Physics or is it not worth looking into before my final year/post-grad?

Thanks in advance.

No, you can't transfer into the final year of a brick university degree.

Technically it is possible to transfer from the OU into the second year of a brick university degree. In order to transfer, the brick university needs to be satisfied that you've covered the same material (and at the same depth) as their own students so that you won't fall behind, but all degrees differ somewhat (and the module structure of OU degrees are very different to brick uni modules, with bigger and more broad modules) so in practice it is unlikely that a university would accept you.

That said, you might be able to transfer to a brick university and finish your degree with them via the OpenPlus scheme (assuming you've done the right modules), but you would have to begin from the second year.
