Friend gets to Pop Pills for 18 Months

I couldn't decide whether to wap this here or in the fashion/beauty bit, but whatever.

My friend went to the doctors and was prescribed 18 months worth of pills, for acne. It isn't even bad and the doctor even described her acne as 'moderate'. Better still, after shes done with those pills, she gets another batch for another 2ish years. By the way she's almost 15.

Surely acne is normal and should be left alone, or get creams and whatnot at the most? I just find it astonishing that she's doing this for something as common as a cold. I understand that as a girl (not trying to be sexist, she admitted this herself) she's 'allowed' to be more self conscious, but seriously...

So you're begrudging your friend treatment for something that may be damaging her self-esteem?

Which is it, acne or a cold? Make your mind up. And what's it matter to you anyway? Jealous of her acne/cold?

Now, this is a phrase you don't hear every day.

I really don't understand why this is bothering you so much? My friend is 20 and just started Accutane. Some acne doesn't just 'go away' after you're 14 years old.

If she wants to look better, and who wouldn't if they could, and feel better about herself.. then.. leave her be!

And.....No.

I just don't see that taking pills for so long is necessarily the best way of treating it.

I know what you're saying.

It's like - you know, you shouldn't take paracetamol for every little thing, because a bit of pain is character building? lol. But yeah, I know what you're saying. If the doctor's giving it to her, though, I doubt it'll have any negative effects, and after all, it's up to her

I took pills to treat my moderate acne a year and a bit ago (I only needed them for about a month). If it makes your friend feel better about their appearance, what's it got to do with you?

And you're a trained doctor?

I think you are the one who has the problem. Leave your friend alone!

Offer your mate private dermatology consultations, you can make a killing.

I suggest you concentrate on your own problems, rather than judging your friend's.
