Not sure.

From what I've heard Cambridge is way behind Oxford in terms of nightlife, but Oxford compared to most other places......... :frown: not great. Hundreds of pubs and of course about 28 college bars, but clubs are poor but present.

Oxford without a doubt, however Oxford is way behind other cities like London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham and I suspect a number of small cities too. However if you're from a village or something Oxford will amaze you, being from a big city I was distinctly underwhelmed by Oxford nightlife.

Posting this in the Oxford forum is likely to get you slightly biased replies.

Should be some old threads on this. Depends on your musical taste. But for live bands Oxford has the Zodiac and Cambridge has the Junction. For cities of their size they are both pretty good. Both cities have better nightlives than their equivalents say Norwich,York,Bath etc.

They are not as lively as a big city but are generally much safer.

As you said London is an hour or so from Oxford and Cambridge. Best of all worlds?

hey,

other than university bars/venues, does oxford or cambridge have a better nightlife?I've heard cambridge is pretty limited to pubs and there is little in the way of clubs- this true? the attractive thing about bristol uni is the good music scene- what's the scene like in oxbridge? is it allllll cheese?!

thanks----

um...what music scene??? i live in ox and can safely say that the clubs are pants. good pubs tho. if we want a proper night out then its easy to jump on a tube to london, or train to bristol/ brum/ etc. but then, isn't it the people who make your night out, not the music?
