does durham have a college pooling system?

I was wondering if durham had a pooling system similar to that of oxbridge, to ensure that worthy candidates do not miss out on a place due to having applied to a very over-subscribed college. I wanted to apply to university college, but the application statistics show that it recieves three times as many applicants as any other (for obvious reasons!). Will this reduce my chances of getting in, or will I simply be pooled to another college if this college proves too competitive?
Thanks for your help!

Durham differs to Oxbridge in that the teaching is not done in colleges - it's done at central departments (i.e. Geography department, English department, etc.) and so the process of application works like this

Application --> Department --> If Department rejects then you don't get a place --> If Department accepts then you have got a place at Durham --> The application then goes to your College that you applied to. If they have space/want you they will accept you. If they don't want you/don't have space, you will be pooled to another college --> As long as the Department accepts you, you have a place at Durham, just maybe not at your chosen college

Is right.

Don't let it put you off applying to Castle!

If the department want you then they'll find you a place at a college, even if it's not your first choice. If Department says yes, you're in.
