Teeth question

Hm not sure this is the right place for this!
I had braces when I was 15 for 18th months. I had them removed a year ago. Unfortunately I lost my retainer when I was on holiday, and the orthadontist had lost my mold, so I had to have new ones made about 3/4 weeks later. By this time, my teeth had moved significantly :frown: They've been like it ever since! Obviously the retainer now is the shape of the teeth after they'd moved. I'm going for a check-up to the orthodontist in 2/3 weeks, do you think they'd be able to do anything for me WITHOUT having braces put back on? I know a lot of my friends have braces on the back of their teeth and stuff, gah I dunno. It's particularly a tiny gap between my 2 front teeth that need closing. Any advice? :frown: Thanks!

You're best telling your doctor these concerns

I had a brace to close gap in front teeth. It was different to normal brace, a plate in top of the mouth with two pieces of wire coming out which pushed two front teeth together. It was removable and hardly showed at all. That might be all you need. My gap was really big and I think I wore it for about two years, but I was a bit unreliable about remembering to wear it. In the end I used to just wear it at night. Don't know why cos you couldn't see it much anyway.

why would they tell their doctor? :s-smilie:
doctors dont know much about teeth, thats why you go to the dentist or orthodontist.

you may be able to get an invisible brace that goes over your teeth and is see through. but you could end up having to wear it for a few months.
or they might put a wire round the back of your teeth to attempt to straighten them.
good luck!

You can't move teeth without braces.

Just get braces again for a month. Then you'll never have to have them again.

I had braces for like 4 years, and they finally got taken off around 4 years back, but my teeth moved since then. I've now had some put back on , and the new brace is almost invisible, because the brackets are tooth coloured, you only see a thin metal wire. Most people don't really notice.

And I'm just happy to have it sorted out. I'll have a retainer for a long time, but that's the price to pay for nice straight teeth.
