a running club has 270 members. there are 25 % mre men than women in the running club.(so that's 150 men and 120 women)Question: 40% of the men and 30 %of the women also belong to a cycling club.calculate the percentage of the whole memebership that belong to the cycling club?
You're right about the first part.
Then:
40% of the men is 0.4 x 150= 60 men
30% of the women is 0.3 x 120 = 36 women
So in the whole running club (270 people), 60 + 36 = 96 are also in the cycling club.
We use: people who are in cycling and running / people in running club = percentage of the people in the running club that belong to the cycling club
So thats 96/270 x 100 = 36%
Then:
