Vniqa

Hi,
I know there was a thread on polycystic ovaries a while ago but I think it is closed and I just really wanted to see if there is anyone currently suffering from this along with me.
I have had polycystic ovaries for a while and have recently restarted on medication for it (Metformin for the internal stuff, Vaniqa for the excess hair) and the whole thing is just really getting me down.
The excess hair thing has got dramatically worse over the last year or so which is why I ended up going back to the doc's and onto the Vaniqa. However, since I started using it I seem to be having a permanent breakout of really painful spots all around where the cream goes.
I just don't know what to do - I've been using the cream for about a month and it says it could take up to a couple of months to work so if I stop I wont benefit from it.
But, the spots are really, really getting me down - I feel hideous:frown:

Has anyone else used Vaniqa? If so, what are your experiences of it?

Now I look like a fool 'cos I spelled Vaniqa wrong on the thread title!:frown:

If you feel tht down about it i'm sure ur GP would like to know about it.

Acne is listed as one of the side effects. you should try and swith to another treatment.

I think the Vaniqa is a fairly new treatment - are there any other treatments for excess hair that I could have on the NHS? (I can't afford expensive things like electrolysis:frown: )

Are you seeing a specialist? I would suggest that you keep going back to you doctor because there are a number of possible options and you shouldn't have to go through this.

Thanks! I've got an appointment with my doc in a couple of weeks so I'll persevere until then and see what she says about it.
But you've made me feel better - at least there are other options.
