Dil Dunia, Cowley Road, and Jamals (somewhere on St Giles?) both let you bring your own, I think.
The Bombay, Walton Street - which I reckon is one of the best indians in Oxford.

Jamal's is also on Walton St. - but while some people like it, I don't; I've always found it scruffy and with poor service.

Thanks guys

Jamals is BYOB on Walton Street in Jericho. Most, if not all, Indian restaurants are BYO.

Yeah, many of the Indian restaurants down Cowley Road are BYOB, and some only charge a quid or two corkage. Go for a wander down that way and look

Also there's a Chinese near where St Giles splits into Woodstock and Banbury - it might be Wok n Roll although I could be wrong - if you fancy Chinese rather than Indian.
Wok & Roll is a take-away, so technically it is a BYO I suppose.

Really? Ok maybe I'm thinking of a different Chinese... will check my backlog of crew date emails...

No, I was right. According to Oxford handbook it has a capacity of 70 (goes upstairs y'see ) and according to my email I went on a crew date there at some point and yes it was BYOB.
Wok'n'roll I've found to be great and good value for lunch, but it's a bit spartan for an evening meal and rather more expensive than at lunchtime for essentially the same stuff. The food is good though.

Can anyone recommend a good Chinese restaurant? I'm meant to be finding one to review today, and after the disaster that was my last meal for Cherwell (see today's paper), it'd be nice to be able to actually recommend the next one.

The Dragoon-something one up in Summertown (past BBC Radio Oxford). It's a buffet and it's really yummy food!
The Kashmir on the Cowley Road is a good bring your own.

Try the Liaison Restaurant, Castle St; it's a while since I went there but AFAIR it was good.

wok n roll is definitely a byob restaurant, but its horrible food so dont go there.

dil dunia does really really nice curry. really nice. pretty decent value too.

re: quistis, does it have to be chinese? if you wanted to do thai, chiang mai kitchen is heavenly.

I think Cherwell reviewed Chiang Mai last term, a shame as I've heard great things about it and would love an excuse to eat there. Thanks heliotrope

And thanks DtS - a RL friend had also recommended Liaisons. I find the word "liaison" really confusing to spell. I think it's the two "i"s.

I must confess I cut and pasted the name from the entry in yell, because I can never spell it properly either. Whatever I put down looks wrong; possibly even if it's right.

definitely find a reason to go to chiang mai, it is yummy. if you're still looking and you're willing to go for something generally asian rather than chinese, how about edamame? i still havent been but i know its supposed to be awesome.

Paddyfields, on Hythe Bridge Street (near The Bridge, towards the Said Business School), is awesome. Been there 3 times, their dim sum and normal menu is lovely. Was taken there once by a Russian friend and again by a Chinese friend, and both liked it, so clearly caters for varied tastes
