I've gotten replies from both saying if I reply I'll get an unconditional offer because I've done my A levels (AAB)... so now the hard thing is deciding between the two universities!

Which school is better for business-related courses?

Note: KCL doesnt have a placement year whereas Loughborough do... is this important?

According to The Guardian's website, Loughborough are ranked higher for Business-related courses than KCL:

KCL are on the next page.

Go for KCL, it's business course is very gd, requirement grades aab whereas with Loughborough , grades are bbb, so you can expect a better quality course with Kings, plus it's in London, fun + good job prospects as a post grad. Yes the placement with Loughborough is gd, but it's not that important, you can do it after you graduate anyways.

Lotus: Out of all the tables available, you trust guardian's?

In terms of teaching Loughborough's might be better....! SO the Guardian tables might actually be right... but I chose to rank them in order of reputation instead... the far-right column and KCL is 6 whereas Loughborough is 5.

Still undecided though, more replies please?:smile::smile:

Kings Kings Kings!

I dont know anything about buisness courses but I know its great fun here and all courses are highly respectable. As has been said, you cant top the London experience, with nightlife catered for dozens of London unis and 20 somethings.

Ok I still have not answered which course is better but trust me on Kings.

How can you mention both in the same sentence? KCL is vastly superior to Loughborough - it's a bit like asking "which is better: LSE or Queen Mary?" : rolls eyes

Oh yeah and screw the placement year.

Kings may not be the highest ranking uni but I DO know that it has excellent links with buisnesses. Highly targetted by city firms. A high postgraduate employment rate too. So like a lot of people at Kings, you can organise an internship or something after your degree has finished or during your degree.

(Or is an internship during your degree?)

You'd be surprised how many people I know in real life have told me Loughborough not King's. I'm an international student so I base everything on hearsay and league tables which isnt really the best way to do it!

King's is fun then? I like fun.

heehee. Welll... one's Anti-London and the other one... is going to Loughborough and he wants to keep an eye on me... so I suppose they have their reasons!

I don't think I could survive in the middle of nowhere though, I need excitement.

Just for clarification purposes... the degree would say it's from University of London and not King's College right? because the college is just a part of the university....

With such a pretty face I cant blame him for wanting to keep an eye on you at Loughborough though personally I’d use both of my eyes.

Yes, the degree you’ll be awarded will be a University of London degree. Even LSE students like me will get the Uni of London degree.

KCL is not in vogue with A-level students but it is very respected in the City, especially for law etc.

If youre going for name value its KCL. If you dont care about that then take whichever course seems to suit you best.

Kings isnt known for business *at all*, Lufbra on the other hand specialising in it and is very well respected for its courses,as you say the placement year will be invaluable to you in the future.

Whilst normally obv kcl > lufbra, i'd say in this case lufbra is the way to go

Kings or Lougborough?!? Is this a wind up?!?

On a different note, should I go to Harvard or TVU?

King's offers Management rather than business, I believe it's a very respected course. King's itself is a very good uni, we have the best union bar and nightclub at the strand - beat's LSE's "The Crush" anyday. Not to mention all the other great bars and things to do in London. It's great on a hot summer's day to go over to St. James's Park and sit in the park all day reading the paper and relaxing with your mates and a few bevvies.

Hey.
I'm a student at lufbra who felt I needed to register to make this post just to make sure some of these pompous people who I'm sure probably havent even been to my uni, paint a pretty dismal picture of the place. Dont listen to what they would have you believe, Lougborough is an excellent uni, ranked quite highly in league tables (10th in the times), with a great atmosphere to boot.

It is quite different to a London uni in terms of location, considering lufbra is only a town, I guess it's down to whether you would enjoy it in a big city. But believe me there is more than plenty to do here.

Anyway I'm not the type to belittle another university, but if you would like to know more about mine to help you make a decision then feel free to e-mail me or something !

Coming from someone who has had to endure a lot of stick and sniggers for going to Kings, I totally understand where you are coming from.

Its a very superficial world at times. Whats good for one person is not always whats good for another.

I went to the best A-Level Grammar school in the country but I would honestly would have done better at my old comp.
