Hi, for the new specification for AQA chemistry exactly which coloured compounds do we need to know about because I understand from the old spec most of it was taken out. Hopefully I haven't been revising from past questions the colour of compounds I don't actually have to know.
    Thank you

You dont need to know Chromium coloured compounds any more.

You do need to know the vanadium coloured complexes from V to II (Yellow Blue Green Violet)
The Iron complexes (III) and (II), Copper (II), Aluminium (III)

You need to know colours for the above, the aqueous ion for each, the action of NaOH until excess, the action of NH3 until excess and the action of Carbonate on each - for acidity.

    Hope this helps

EDIT: Found a useful web page from AQA which may sum up anything I couldnt remember
