no i dont think your misperceiving...i get that feeling almost everywhere i go.....its just your gut telling you to be aware of you surroundings....thats what i tell myself when i get that feeling.......

Reply 2

i don't know if it's actual violent instincts or just testosterone and over enthusiasm

You can't have much of a civilised night out a lot of places, unless you go to a really middle class hidden away university student pub..

Reply 4

Depends on the pub. It can be a bit intimidating in some places where the local working classes and students don't tend to mix too well.

Reply 5

Oh, how simply awful. Common people.

Reply 6

I know... so 'middle class' people are never violent nor intimidating?

Reply 7

Well it is accurate to a point. Big scruffy looking guys always make me feel a bit on the edge down south, but up here in newcastle i never feel that way. I guess it all depends on teh place

It's less likely you must admit, the hgiher up the wealth/educational scale you go.

Reply 9

I get nervous when I go out with friends so yeah.

Reply 10

well you are a student, by definition you dont work as hard as them and are having an easier life. thats got to cause some resentment. Though,to be honest im not sure why. reckon your just being paranoid for no reason, you very posh by any chance?

Reply 11

Well that's what happens nearly everywhere. So make sure you have friends round you to back you up in case it's needed... And anyway, a night out is for having fun, so if you're in a place that feels hostile to you feel free to leave..

Reply 12

Yeah but did anything actually happen? Isn't that the normal atmosphere in a bar/pub or have I led a very deprived life up until now? I've only ever seen one bar brawl break out and it wasn't even big, just 4 or 5 blokes goin at it and it was over in 2 minutes. You gotta remember everyone's just there to drink and chat lol

Nothing happened no. i just sensed the male hormones flying around.
i worked in a pub in the city centre for like 9/10 months, only one assault, some chav knocked a student down and kicked them on the floor. Nasty.

Poor people don't start wars.

Reply 15

Working class people make me twitchy as well. Send 'em back down the mines that's what I say!

You're scared of male hormones?

Reply 18

You're scared of male hormones? Are you gay, female, or a pathetic excuse for man?

Reply 19

the wealthier you are, the more likely you are to be violent in a gruesome way. People in pubs have a bit of a brawl, people in suits massacre.

also male hormones were flying about because it was in bar, with women and booze in it.
