work and snitching

i work at subway

today my coworker gave his friends staff discount
which is generally okay (everyone usually does this, though its not allowed)
but he does it in exchange for tips (£1's or a corona)
and he takes it too far (puts loads of meat on and all)
so im thinking of telling the boss on him

however he says hes mates with the boss and manager

and he has quite gangster friends so if my name is mentioned it'd be abit worried

today he made about £10 and 2 beers

this IS equilivant to stealing and the scale hes doing it on is worrying

xx

PS annonymous because i could get in trouble with this person or boss etc

I see where your coming from, but id say just leave it; especially if he is friends with the boss and manager lol, coz they wont do anything about it most probs.

p.s; your not annonymous lol

Oh for pity's sake. Most people 'steal' from their employer in the strictest sense of the term. It's expected and it's none of your concern.
I know where your coming from, but at the end of the day its not harming you.
However, If you went and snitched to the manager or whatever it may come back and bite you on the bum.

Why do you care? It's not your money. While it is a bit more nefarious doing it for tips than out of the goodness of his heart, it's still not a big deal. I'd just stay out of it if I were you.
How much does Subway make?

Are you seeing any of their millions?

Hell, I'd be more envious of the guy than spiteful.
Honestly, I'd leave it. If he gets caught let it be his own fault (assuming management care). If you made a formal complaint the boss would either do nothing (achieved nothing but made the boss think you're a snitch), or if he has to follow up on complaints, he gives a verbal warning and the guy would be looking for an excuse to get you back. Not worth the hassle IMO, unless it starts affecting you (boss upset about irregularities, for example, though I don't know how that could happen as I've never worked at Subway!).

Leave it.

Everyone does it in one way or another. I'd just join in. Make some extra money yourself

All companies have a whistleblowing policy typically going like 'You shall never be mentioned ever'. Just inform your manager under this policy and if you get backfire from it you can hold your company responsible

Why would you even care? It's not coming out of your pocket, is it? And I'm sure you expect him to cover for you from time to time.

subways making millions in profit as it is. this wont even cut into that anyway & personally i wouldnt be bothered about it atalll.
Surely if he keeps using up lots of ingredients, then irregularities will begin to show up in the stocks...

What I mean is, if you have a back office system that keeps track of all your stock and supplies, then it will notice that some of it seems to be going suspiciously quickly in comparison to others.

Mate, you give me the same discount. The only reason you don't ask me for a tip is you're too nice.

Wanna tell me where this guy works? I want to save money on subs too

so far its not concerning you, so i don't even know why you're thinking of "telling" on him. however, if the boss gets suspicious and tries blaming you, snitch like you've never snitched before.

gah anonymous didnt work :|
(if mods can change that i would appriciate it)

i do give the discount to some of my friends too but this is on a large scale
and very unfair on everyone
if it was one or two odd friends i'd turn a blind eye (we all give our mates discount)
making £10 from discounts is a pisstake

if we get found out later down the line we'll both get in trouble (me for not snitching; we're a team and all)
there are cameras in there

hes rather intelligent about it; he only does it every saturday so it goes unnoticed
mind you, the stock is counted on a regular basis but things like salami or bacon cant be counted, he piles it on
he actually says "for a few pounds i'll give ya whatever you want just give me a corona innt"

the "subway makes loads" is a **** defence; subway is a franchise, its my boss getting the money and that moneys rightly earned

also, his gangster mates were there all day, he slacked off so i was doing most of the work (during the day, at night when closing he was great) and the place was a state, as they were leaving i screamed "take your **** with you"
Report him to your boss. It's the right thing to do. Don't listen to these idiots who are encouraging you to take part of this illegal activity. Shame on you all!

Mate, your boss is paying you less than you make for him. He's charging the customers more than the food is worth. Don't feel any loyalty towards him.

If he's "clever" because he's doing it on a saturday, you won't get caught clearly. If you're not taking part in it, just act like you don't know anything any you won't get in any trouble. Not to mention if you do snitch, his mates will probably beat you up. And you'll deserve it too.

How constructive...

Anyway
As for your problem. I've just read this thread and this is how i see it.

1. You aren't doing anything wrong.
2. Your Co-worker is messing about on the job (you said his mates were all in)
3. He gets beers as tips? Does that mean he's drinking on the job?
4. He's stealing from his boss for his own gain, for anyone who thinks it's not a big problem what he's doing, it's still stealing.

Assuming what i've gathered is all correct, I'd say that's sufficient grounds to report him.
