RAF Further Consideration Sift 2017
Attended OASC end of Feb, found out I was in the further consideration sift end of March, just over 2 months later I still haven't heard anything.
Going for Pilot, not managed to get much info from OASC when I've rung up (rang up after 1 and 2 months of being in the sift).
Would be interested to hear if there are any more Pilots in the sift, offer/rejection wait times etc.

Has anyone heard anything? I received my further consideration email 2 weeks ago and don’t know if I should wait it out or just ring up my AFCO and enquire?it says upto 3 months. Also is sift usually a good thing or Does it just depend on the time?
Just hang in there, I was in the sift for 6 months till I got my offer. From general chatting around, it seems majority of pilots are being put in the sift. There's not really anything the AFCO can do so I would bother calling them and OASC control were particularly unhelpful (told me conflicting info when I rang up and could never really answer any of my questions) so I would avoid ringing them.
Best thing I can say is just forget about it, you will either get an offer or you wont, there's nothing you can do about it now. If you didn't make the grade you would have been rejected by now, its just now comparing you against other applicants who have also made the grade to decide who they will give those limited spots.
Will make the 3 months go a lot quicker if you forget about it rather than sitting endlessly refreshing your emails hoping for something to come in. Easier said than done, fire away if you have any questions

Thanks again for the info, it's good to have a rough guideline of what to expect, I imagine it'll make the wait a little easier.
On the off chance any Non Commissioned Aircrew are following this thread, I have been advised by OASC boarding that the wait is expected to be of some length due to the training structure of WSOp - trying to find a Basic Recruit training course with spaces at Halton that roughly ends in good time to then go to NCAITC in Cranwell is apparently causing some major headaches for the boarding staff.

I’m going WSOP as well. I did my OASC in August and within the week I got an email saying I wasn’t competitive enough -at this stage- however we would like to re-interview you. So I went back a month later did the interview and two days later got the -further consideration email.
When I was at OASC there where 6 currently serving all trading branch to wsop and I think if their application is as good as us they get the junp as already done Halton etc. But I do think you are correct on the wait part as a friend who was going for PTI completed training and had to wait 3 months until specialist training so got all that pay for mucking about doing nothing so I think they are trying to close the gaps between training and specialist.

Good to hear from a fellow SNCO candidate and congrats on getting round the interview.
I am hoping that those currently serving might not affect direct entrants too much for that reason - If they can jump straight in to NCAITC that frees up spaces at Halton at least, although this possibly presents even more hold issues as I think there are only a few NCAITC courses a year and they don't seem to take large numbers.
When I did CBAT in May I'd say 60% of those testing were for WSOp, so if that's anything to go by, we find ourselves in quite a large pool and can really only hope for the best - fingers crossed for the both of us, and all those sifting in for IOT.
Its all speculation but at least it kills some time chatting it out!

Yeah a lot of people fail the CBAT in fairness. Think I scored 121 or somewhere around there. I’ve done OASC twice and coming 26 in March but think this will be my last attempt. Not much more I can do in fairness.

Yeah, I think there is a certain natural attrition to it all - frankly though I think we should be very happy we've got this far! You are exactly right though, at this point we have all done what we can, the rest is in the hands of the gods, so to speak.
I can answer that one for you as my second and third choices were commissioned officer roles (leading to some quite tricky interview questions about the blurred lines between SNCO and a commission, that was interesting!), I was told in the interview that is absolutely fine, as long as your OASC score is competitive for those branches then if there is no WSOp roles available then you can request to be considered for that - might be worth a call to AFCO to add as a late consideration if that takes your fancy.

Email mate, all my stuff was in an email with various attachments and a separate email for the security check. Never received anything in the post through my whole application, id like to think the RAF have got rid of sending things in the post when email works perfectly fine
Just got an email from RAF recruitment and near **** myself, turns out it was just an email letting me know they have set up a new website and I’ll need re confirm my email etc. I hate this wait 🙁

Haha I did the exact same thing!
I’ve read other forums where people have phoned up there AFCO and got an answer. Not sure if any truth but might give it a go tomorrow. Every email I get I’m bricking it or when the post arrives. It’s terrible

If you're in the list for further consideration, OASC will likely contact you shortly after the sift meeting. The AFCO won't know anything unless OASC tell them as your case will be 'owned' by OASC (It is handed to OASC from the AFCO after your filter interview).
