Try and concentrate on getting through the interview, instead of contemplating about what happens if it all goes wrong. Positivity doesn't cost a penny

Relax!

Just go into your interview positive and you'll be fine. I swear I messed up my interview, but I tried to remain positive throughout and I ended up with an offer, so just relax and be calm.

So what did they ask you? Are Imperial's interview fairly academic, or is it more why do you want to study [insert subject]?

It varies from subject to subject depending on how competitive it is. Aero has the 2nd highest amount of applications per place, so they tend to have a fairly academic interview. I mean, you do get the bog standard "Why do you want to come to Imperial, why do you want to do Aeronautical Engineering?" and other things. The academic questions are more qualitative than quantitative as generally students know bugger all about Fluids. It varies from interviewer to interviewer as well.

I was predicted AAAA at A-level and A at AS
I didn't recieve an offer after my interview hehe. Not to scare you or anything.

I actually got AAAA and a B at AS, but even though i tried again, they still wouldn't have me :P

I had my Aero interview yesterday, I think 'botch job' best describes my performance. I'm hoping they'll realise I'm not usually incapable of coherent thought, and that it was just down to nerves.

This is going to be a long wait..

I can't remember the name- another annoying side effect of extreme nervousness! He seemed like a really lovely chap though, and I'm really hoping I'll get by on the strength of my UCAS form/the fact that I think I managed to vocalise my enthusiasm for Aero Eng...

It's just hard not to feel disappointed after wanting a place for so long, and managing to severely mess up my chances within the space of 15 mins!

I'll second that question from Chennol- how long did it take to get a reply? I'm going to be on tenterhooks for the rest of the week!

When I applied, I had my interview on a Wednesday and I got a letter on the Tuesday after saying that I'd been accepted. Do bear in mind that after I applied the guys in charge of the whole application process changed so they may do it slightly differently - i.e they may wait longer to let people know or they may do it via UCAS first...don't panic just yet!

Just relax...trust me. I felt as though I messed up my interview...I didn't even think I managed to convey why I wanted to study Aeronautics or why I wanted to study at Imperial. I think my interviewer knew that he was going to give me an offer before I even went there, although he still grilled me in terms of academic questions. He did hint to me that he would be making an offer (his words were along the line of "if we give you an offer it'll be an A in Maths, A in Physics and B in Further Maths...we don't really care about Economics" and when the offer turned up on UCAS it was the exact same offer).

I really can't comment on the current admission process, however I think that they do pick out the few that they really do want and will be quite lenient with you...so just relax and you'll know soon!

Am trying to relax/not freak the postman out too much with my daily "morning! is there anything for me? no? oh..."
Thanks for all your advice/reassurance by the way, it really is invaluable

after ur interview?

ofcourse, if you read the whole thread..

Reply 18

i am sure 'unable to confirm' dosent mean no offer. if they don't offer u a place they will tell u that u are rejected. they wont give u the chance to assume anything. maybe u should email them.

Reply 19

They're not going to write ("you are rejected"), its just a softer way of saying it. Email them and you'll look like a moron
