The Student Room Group

Lying

Hi there...
It's a weird story, but I would appreciate any comment!

During my military service introduction (compulsory for men in my country), I met a very nice guy, with whom I was in the same group. We got along very well, we just had the same kind of humour, similar opinions, etc. All in all, a very likable person. However, we separated without exchanging mobile numbers. All I knew about him was his name and his school's name.

Back home, I googled him, and I found out that he's actually a quite gifted pianist. As I am a quite good cellist, as well, and had been looking for some good pianist for ages (to play together), I decided to ask his school for his phone number.

The problem was, however, that I didn't want to tell him that I had googled him. So, I just invented a story that I knew a girl called Sarah at his school who told me about him... We now started rehearsing together (which is great), but I suppose he found that story equally weird and got abit suspicious of it. Moreover, he tried to look her up in his school's year book and said, he hadn't found her.

What shall I do now?? It's such a **** of a situation I have ridden myself into...:frown:

Just tell him you googled him. I google people I meet all the time. Nothing wierd about it. Just make a bit of a joke of it, that you didn't want him to think you odd or something.

Hah - yeah, "Where's she from?" was the outstanding thought I had about this thread as well.

Singapore, or possibly Israel, I guess...

Nah, lies always come back and bite you in the ass. The longer you leave it the more impossible to confess it'll be - honesty is the best policy. Make a joke of it ("didn't want you to think I was a weirdo but I didn't have any other way to get hold of you!")

Actually, I'm a guy, too...
You think it sounds abit like I was gay?
Well, do you think he might think I was gay, if I admitted that I had googled him?

Thanks for your comments so far!!!

BTW: I'm Swiss

Nope, I dont think it sounds gay!

If you tell him, he'll probably just think its amusing rather than creepy.

Reply 9

I must admit - it sounded a little gay. I thought you had feelings for him...

ouch... I don't want him to think that I was gay!:s-smilie:
Well, did you educe that from my way of telling the story, or do you think the story per se (googling, etc) sounds gay?
Thanks

Not sure about him but I find it gay if a guy went googling me up. Feels like being stalked.

Damned, this makes my situation even worse.... :frown:

It doesn't sound gay at all to me.

What is wrong with wanting to get into contact with a friend?

Just tell him. As MLK says, every lie must beget seven more lies if it is to resemble the truth and adopt truth's aura. Get out now!
