supplementary application questionnaire thread

everyones posting all different questions.. and what i can gather most the questionnaires are similar.

i just have a few questions of my own mind.

firstly "what aspects of the course at cambridge attracted you to apply here?"
i dont know.. i feel like writing ITS CAMBRIDGE DURRH- haha.

question 3.2 what are you doing outside.. can you just say extra reading or do you have to specify exactly what you are reading?

for the general section at the end my teacher told me to write.
"i am the first person from my family to go to univeristy"
but im already applying through the CSAS.. so does that basically sound stupid? or really pathetic.
whats everyone else writing for this?

Though it might seem tempting, writing "I would be honoured to study at such a fine institution a.k.a. IT'S CAMBRIDGE, C'MON!" isn't a very good idea...:p: Of course you want to go to Cambridge, otherwise you wouldn't apply - however, you want to let them know that you're applying because you'd enjoy the course, not just because it's prestigious. Are there any aspects of your chosen course that you find particularly interesting? (Since you're applying, you should be able to find something) If you really can't find anything worth mentioning, talking about the supervision system is far better than babbling about the reputation of Cambridge... the reputation of Cambridge is not an aspect of the course!

If you're already applying through CSAS, I can't see why you should repeat. "Is there anything else not already on your application that you would like us to know?"

I want to write a bit about my courses (I'm applying from EU), explain why a certain grade has been delayed, etc. Just to clarify things. Or are you supposed to "sell" yourself further in this section?

I have a question myself: I'm going to write the set texts for a course on the "main topics"-question. However, I read one of the set books in advance so I was allowed to read another book instead. Can I mention that? (I mentioned the set book in my PS, I thought it'd be good to say that I read it before we were given it in class).

Yes they are, so instead of asking a moderator change the title of a thread and simply make one of the bigger threads into a catch-all thread, you made yet another one. How helpful.

1. Cambridge courses tend to be fairly unique, if the only reason you applied to Cambridge is because it was Cambridge, then you'll probably appear rather shallow and likely to come across as completely unprepared. You are meant to research where you apply, as it'll be a big deal for pretty much the rest of your life. Applying just on a name is not very clever. If you truly don't know anything about the course and why you should want to apply there, then start researching, go to the faculty website and read every piece of information you can. It should help you answer this.

2. List the books.

3. Don't bother, it asks for anything you haven't already told them, and it is already mentioned in the CSAS. It could also come across as though you are looking to play the sympathy card to edge your way in.
