Keep feeling sleepy while revising

I have a bright lamp, so its not a lighting thing, and what im revising is very boring. And i always feel sleepy while im reading the book, doing qs etc, (more when reading) and it probably has a bad effect on my revision. But however if i think of going on the net or watching tv i feel all awake again. How can i fight this?

That sounds like me, because I'm generally used to going on the net and watching tv, and let's face it - revision, especially for something boring is.. boring. Just try and eat well and maybe have some tea or coffee for a quick fix of energy.

Totally me revising. I find pacing my self in small blocks, say 20 mins, and giving myself little rewards each step. Say a cup of tea, or a 5 min walk in the garden, just simple things. NOT TV though!

It's impossible. But small distractions like getting some food, or walking around does help bring your senses back.
I had myself banned from TSR last time I had exams, otherwise I just end up procrastinating horribly on here instead of revising. Best to avoid computers as much as possible, they are such a good way of getting distracted and wasting hours and hours.

I wish I knew of a cure for the sleepy feeling, other than unhealthy amounts of very strong coffee. It's not good to wake up with textbooks stuck to your face :s-smilie:.

Try a different type of revision, like re-writing your notes into summaries.

As much as it can be bad for you, caffiene works pretty well. At least it did for me - whenever I felt tired I used to take a couple of Pro Plus tablets (I don't like coffee!) and soon enough I'd be feeling better.

Although it's not amazing, I would get the same amount of work done in a couple of hours using Pro Plus that I would get done over a whole day without. Regularly I would be in the library at Uni and feel sleepy so just fall asleep at the desk

Oh yeah and as a more natural way, maybe listen to some upbeat music too - I used to take my mp3 player and listen to some dance music whilst revising. If you don't like dance music, don't doubt it straight away, because having it on in the background has helped some of my friends, even those who previously weren't fans of it!
the boredom of revision is putting you to sleep.. try revising when you wake up in the morning instead
