I can think of a couple - dunno if they're along the right lines but hey:

1. Democracy in Burma?
2. Recent change in age that u can by cigarettes?
3. DNA Database idea
4. The case of the girl(anyone remember the name? First beginnin with 'L' and surname with 'M') killed in Rochester?? where a man was wrong wrongly imprisoned for 16 years (forgot name again) - the idea of the merits/disadvanatge of forensics as a form of evidence.
5. err ...

I can't think of any legal issues that don't immediately stray into being politics (the E.U. Treaty/ Saudi King visit + Human Rights violations). Is this ok? Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated

Have a look at this link:

I don't know an awful lot about the legislation planned to ban violent pornography, but it raises a number of interesting issues:

1. To what extent would banning extreme porn prevent violent crimes?

2. Human Rights issues - curtailment of freedom expression etc. Does this sort of material have any kind of value, and where do we draw the line?

3. Is this just an example of paternalism? Or does the existence of legitimate porn (by this, I guess I mean the stuff where nobody who doesn't desire it is harmed) encourage the production of stuff that actually involves the commission of criminal offences against unwilling participants?

4. You could tie it into the raising of the smoking age, and the public places smoking ban. To what extent is the government just protecting us from ourselves (ie. being purely paternalistic) and to what extent can there be said to be innocent victims of activities like these?

5. Ultimately, what is the purpose of the criminal law? Is it there to enforce moral norms or is it there to protect social order? Where do the two overlap?

Plus, I find its always good to talk about S&M in interviews...
