Food Poisoning

I ate some over-cooked pork chops yesterday after nearly setting the kitchen on fire and today I seem quite ill. Spent most of the day in bed. Have vomited twice in the past few hours, though it was just a little bit but some blood came up the second time. When should I start worrying and call a doctor? And what's the process? Currently living in halls of residence. The cough I've had for the past 3-4 weeks isn't helping. My doctor's appointment about that isn't until Monday though.

Over-cooked? Surely that just meant they were a little tough and burnt? I can see how under-cooked pork coulkd make you sick, but not over-cooked.

Just the thought of pork would make me sick.

Are you sure the pork chops were not off? Did you're cough make you feel ill before?

Can't burnt pork poison you? I'm sure if you cooked the pork with cornflower oil for too long, you can risk getting cancer. I trashed all my cornflower oil tins soon as I found this out and replace it with olive oil.

I'd be really suprised if over-cooked pork made you throw up after all it's better to over-cook it rather than under-cook it. As someone said further up, maybe it had gone off. If you maybe you still feel bad tomorrow, consult your GP. In the mean time drink plenty of water.

If there's nothing wrong with the pork then it's the herbs spices oil whatever you used to cook your pork with.

Even if that's true, I don't think the OP got cancer over night.

You can't get food poisoning from slightly overcooked pork, undercooked yes, goneoff yes, but not slightly overcooked.

Sorry for not replying earlier, my flatmates came in shortly after posting and gave me some advice. Cooler room plus plenty water plus bed. It seems to be working.

As for the pork, it was fresh from Tesco yesterday so couldn't have been off. I grilled it so no oil. And no, my cough hasn't made me feel ill before. It did start with a cold about 4 weeks ago, but the cold went away pretty quickly.

Wonder if you throwing up was totally unrelated to food in the end?

Reply 10

No idea, but I haven't done it since then. Maybe it was just my cough combined with the other symptoms.

Definitely doesn't sound like food poisoning. Probably just random sickness. If you are feeling better now it can't be anything to worry about. But if you get sick again consider seeing the doc.

After seeing some of the fowl conditions supermarkets keep their meat in etc. I wouldn't be so sure...

But sorry to hear your sick.

It's not food poisoning.

Just stop being so ridiculous. Almost everything is a carcinogen, according to some sources, if too much is consumed-I think the latest is beef and alcohol, but I can tell you this; He did NOT contract cancer overnight.

LOL. Herbs and spices, if dried, don't really go off unless they're poorly kept-damp etc,and you would notice if your bunch of parsley was crawling with mould! Oil lasts for years. just don't be so silly.

Well I woke up at like 4:45 and 6:45 to be sick again. Don't think any blood came up this time so it's probably just a case of flu. I wonder why the 7 hour gap and then 2 hour gaps. The last time I had flu was like 1999. >.<

I just hope I don't fall behind with uni work. And there's an important talk tomorrow about my work placement module. Don't know how I'll attend that. Will see how I feel at 3:45pm as it starts at 4.

Is there anything I can take to stop being sick?

Reply 17

Nope, if you need to be sick, im afraid you will no matter what you do to try and help. will just have to ride it out, sorry! Hope you get better soon though

Oh and the blood in you sick was probably caused by your cough, if it is quite a severe chesty one, then i imagine you probably damaged your insides a bit - but dont worry, very common with a cough. You'll be fine. Remember, feed a flu, starve a cold!! so EAT :P
