hey guys, i am FREAKING OUT that i got like no marks... could someone tell me if i was on the right lines for literally any of the questions? i am SO scared!

families:
question one:
women and men have joint conjugal so women also have paid work - this means they are less depending on them for money so they don't have a fear of divorce so divorce is increasing - once a family divorce Jenks said that a mother will feel guilt and then shield her children from further problems in society like crime so the child has a happier and shielded childhood
also roles are shared including house hold jobs so this means a son is less likely to be told to do physical jobs like lifting heavy items or mowing the lawn and daughters arent expected to do jobs like helping with cooking/cleaning - this could lead to children with no gender stereotype e.g a feminine boy feeling uncomfortable that their parents stereotype them into incorrect personalities due to gender and altogether a happier childhood

question two:
a raise in Jamaicans lead to more lone parent house holds, this has now become a norm
and also polish immigration being due to work means they may have children later in life and also both parents working

question three:
parsons: socialisation- helps both individual and society due to value consensus stabilisation of adult personalities -
crit warm bath theory with marx, they think family is used to legitimis and reproduce capitalist workers
murdock: reproduction and meeting sexual needs to stop anger and abuse,
crit with feminists, how the role of families is to get daughters prepared for patriarchy to make sons think they have a right to be in control and the authority

beliefs:
question one: working class - less material things to lose e.g money, expensive items
ethnic minorities that feel marginalised by a racist society- example the peoples temple

question two: weber about calvinism and how it brought about new form of capitalism e.g profit for profit not greed, crit: scotland had calvinism but no cap so for cap soc you do need religion, but also economic factors and material factors

question three:
rationalisation + rise in technology e.g an areoplane crash
falisifcation, popper
secularisation
crit: western looked at only - malinowski's canoe magic
westen society do use religious techniques too eg praying for an outcome
conclusion: functionalist view of religion is v different to the substantive - clearly no one can agree on what religion is so how can we measure if science is taking over?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

For the families unit you're was on the right lines however for the question 2 in beliefs I don't think you're second point is valid. It's a small criticsm on Weber however you should get marks. Maybe talking about Bruce would've improved this answer. For question 3 it was about secularisation which was hard to tell. So by talking about rationalisation you was correct. However the other points appear to be wrong but you should get marks so long as you applied it and backed up your knowledge.

guys paper 1 was beautiful but paper 2 was disgusting i forgot functionalist and 20
marker even though i wrote one point for science technolgical world view. i think the 10 markers save me i probably got 3 out of 20 and 4 out of 20 for functionalist lool!

10
markers i know i done well.

q1: emotion work conjugal roles and leisure time i use young wilmott study i wrote something along them lines
and i wrote about women now becoming double earners and stuff like that
q2: lone parents and extended(jamaicans/indians)
q4: relative deprivation and social change(working class industrial etc.)
q5: black civil right and new christian right!

functionalist: instead of murdock i wrote durkheim lool and instead of durkheim or parson for geographically movement i wrote durkheim i think. i blab on and yeah science i wrote one secularisation point.
probs got 10 markers corrects so 40 + 5(due to including some critics despite writing sociologists name wrong) + 1 =46 i know i got max 44/45/46/47 if the exam is fair but 44= and thats like a C
