I've been to the summer courses...i don't know how intense the spring revision courses are because the summer courses were like 3 hrs a day (they could've made better use time and done more). But content wise, it is good for revision, they give you lots of materials, and most of the study guides are really useful.

Oxford courses cater for the rich. They are not associated with Oxford University, but part of that amount of money you pay goes to paying for your stay at an Oxford college.
It is a waste of money if you ask me.

There is one that is in Stockholm (Sweden) and it is much much cheaper I can say. I've heard it's good as well. My friend did psychology there and said she learned more during those days than the whole IB.

I also know there is one in London...

My friend went to the Stockholm revision course (though I did the IB in Sweden so it was easier for him to get there). He said he learned a lot.

The OSC is outrageously bad in terms of a cost/benefit analysis. You pay for being in Oxford, that's the catch. You would do better in applying to Oxford and being invited for a 5 day interview, in which you will have plenty of time to visit Oxford (free accomodation and food!). Even better would be getting in and enjoying 3-4 years here. Life is pretty much perfect, I cannot complain about anything but the workload :p:

I took the stockholm course as well, last year... took maths SL and it was really good! They have university students like with 40+ on their diploma as tutors. Some of them were from oxbridge, some from SSE. Costs a loooot less than OSC (like half the price), and they were really helpful  I seriously doubt OSC are worth their money...

The stockholm courses have changed name thou, got a mail a few weeks ago said theyr now called Revision Courses Europe and have courses both in UK (LSE) and Sweden (SSE). So i guess thats a good alternative for u guys as well:cool:

I took Eco HL with Revision courses Europe in stockholm 2006. My teacher Jonas was a great tutor and managed to revise the whole syllabus. he also gave helpful advices over email for both the exams and my choice of university. I also enjoyed the fact that he had been through the same experience which helped me to feel more confident.

my friends that took other subjects also really liked the courses.

they also seem much cheaper than OSC etc. and much better in terms of cost/benefit analysis. I thought that the "student teaching" concept was very good. my teacher had 44 and also 3 years of university studies at Stockholm School of economics which is like the best finance school in Europe. that's much better than most ib teachers i have met.

i would say Rev. courses Eur. is a very good option....

Good luck with your exams! i am very glad mine are over

I forgot to post a link to their website: Revision courses Europe. apparently they also host courses at LSE...seems nice for the people in UK.

I went on a course at Sevenoaks school which was really useful - but i stayed in a nearby travelodge type hotel with my friend instead of the school which cut down on the costs loads!

would def reccomend the spring courses though as its the ideal time revision-wise!

xx
sevenoaks school do them as wel i'd imagine quite cheap my friend found the maths one really useful, didn't rate the business one though...

really! how much were sevenoaks? cuz i checked the revisioncourses.com and they are only £195 for 2 whole days.
sevenoaks is a lot maybe 1k for two days but the HL maths is sposed to be really well taught.

Ouch! That better be einstein himself teaching! :-P Is it really that much? (imagine the hourly salary of havin 20 kids payin 1k each:-S) Cus OSC is like £500 without accomodation i think (not sure!) which I thought was alot!

sorry but that's just not true :P
its not £1000 !

for one course, if you book before 7th February its

boarding:£425
non-boarding:£295

i quote from:

i would highly reccommend Sevenoaks if you live somewhere in London and can have ur parents ferry you around for two days. It is alot cheaper than OSC and will be better than OSC as these are the same teachers who teach the students who average 39 points on the IB!! Most of the money at OSC goes to you staying there + the teachers aren't great - my math teacher and english teacher are going there to teach - my math teacher is okay but my eng teacher does not know anything !!!
Im doing Sevenoaks Math HL and Physics HL btw.
I am attending the spring revision course at Oxford for Math SL.

I have been told that it is very useful. One of my friends attended it and managed to upgrade his Economics grade from a low 5 to a 6.

Hoi

In my class, there are roughly five students attending the Oxford Spring Revision courses for Math HL. It is supposed to be very useful.

Are you applying to any Dutch universities?

hi eiso,

Three of my friends took HL Math with Revision Courses Europe. All of them were really satisfied with the teacher and the teaching technique. I took Economics HL and my teacher was also very good. I was predicted a 7 and also got 7 as my final grade, so I would really recommend their courses. My other two friends that took Eco HL had predicted 5's and got 6's.

Considering their prices I would say go for it!

Good luck with your exams
