Asking someone 'out' on Facebook

There's this girl at uni who I saw quite a few times during freshers week but hadn't seen her since. I was thinking earlier today about how cool she was and that if I saw her again I'd ask her for a drink or something. And then I got off the bus and there she was! I opened conversation with her but she was really stressed because she had work to hand in and the deadline was approaching, so I didn't think it was the best time to ask her on a 'date' or for her number.

Should I send her a message on Facebook or just hope that fate works in my favour and I bump into her again?

Thanks, folks

Go for it. I'm thinkingabout doing it.

One thing I didn't think about was the inevitable wait for an answer. Bring on the insanity/paranoia!

i agree! just like talk normaly over facebook.. you dont even really need to message her just comment her "innocently" then progress.. just dont ask her out in a message it gives girls the wrong impression..

I mean 'asking out' in the sense of just doing something together; i.e. a drink  Thanks for the advice. I'll get on the case

Yeah you should definately go for it. Even if you dont end up meeting up at least you will establish a raport with her.

Ask her for a drink but I wouldnt ask her out officially. Thats abit too wierd!

Yeah I'd rather keep my weirdness to myself for now

or even a general message just to open communication?

Easy ice-breaker..."did you get that work in on time?" sort of thing. But yeah; just open communication I'd say, asking out on Facebook/by text/MSN etc. is something I've always personally found a little strange.

chat her up on facebook, but don't ask her "out" on facebook. wait till you see her again.
