Something me and Ozzbozz wanna know; for question 7.3: How have you kept up your interest in the subject for which you have applied, outside your AS/A Level (or equivalent) work?

it it wise to repeat stuff said in our PS. All i've done is read 2 books which i've already mentioned in my PS? should i leave the box blank but then will i sound like i have no interest in my course?.

Last year mine was basically a repeat of what was in my PS. IMO it would be better to repeat what you've written rather than leave it blank.

A few questions:

1) Is it wise to put "I got a U in GCSE chemistry because I didn't go to the exam due to illness" in the "anything else you would like us to know" part? Or will they then want to know why I got a D in Product Design (I am crap at it)?

2) Is just your passport photo okay?

More dumb questions to follow.

1) Well, you don't get a certificated GCSE for a U grade, so, actually, you didn't even need to mention it in your UCAS application.

2) Yes, as long as you scan it into your computer.

My tutor said I had to mention it, because you had to put all the exams you were entered for... :s-smilie:

Anyway, should I still mention it?

I'm thinking of using the 'is there anything else you would like us to know' box to explain how the English Lit marking of our January module was mucked up very badly by the exam board, leaving around 60% of the year with Us and me with an E and a summer resit. Does that sound wise? Just don't want them to think that I could do that badly in an exam.

Would they not ask you why you didn't get it remarked? Assuming you didn't that is.

similar question ... should I tell them that OCR are remarking all of our school's history scripts for one unit because they were marked badly? I got a B in that unit and I'm not sure if it will actually change on the remark, but seeing as the ones that were sample-remarked jumped up 2 grades or more... is it worth putting down, or will they already know that there's been a universal problem with that paper?

Oh yeah sorry, sort of forgot some important stuff! The exam board accepted they had marked it wrong and took all the scripts back for remarking however the grades barely moved. The teachers saw lots of the scripts and many were definitely A/B grades and they said that an exam board doesn't like to admit how badly it's mucked up so will never move anyone up by more than a grade or so. Mine was remarked from a U to an E, not really sufficient, so I had to resit along with practically everyone in my year. The resit was fine so there's nothing to worry about really, I just thought it might be helpful to explain the circumstances.

Got my SAQ sent to me the morning after it was sent, was sent off something like 9.30pm, was shocked by the speed :P. I left out the additional personal statement stuff, and the additional information box.. I figure my personal statement covers everything I need to say..

Are you sure you're applying for a BSc there? I seem to remember that, when I was there, they said that ALL of their undergraduate degrees, including their science ones, were BA.

I sent mine off on thursday as well and received the SAQ email late saturday night. What about you?

Reply 196

I got my SAQ!!! I'm going to try and start it now I think. I got it at 2am this morning and sent my application off on Friday if anyone was wondering.

Anyone know how they're handled? Is it a person who sends the link to applicants, or is it an automated system. My school said don't bother checking at the weekend because they'll be no-one in the office, but if people are getting them at like 3 AM surely it's a computer?
