Panic about the SAQ here!

Ok thanks! That's really helpful.
Yeah it doesn't really make sense that they'd want lots of information about specific modules. I'm hoping to do Philosophy so they'd probably be much more concerned about the philosophical arguments we've looked at then anything else.
Nice to know I'm not the only one missing some topics

For module title I simply put them as 'Poetry and Drama 1'. Page 3 on here: http://www.wjec.co.uk/uploads/publications/8144.pdf is what I referred to when looking for course codes/module titles. I don't think putting 'LTx' is necessary, as they can see what module number it is based on the course code/when you took it.

Thanks. That makes sense.

What do you do when there isn't enough room for the unit title when entering individual module results (E.g. 'Investigative and Practical Skills' for Chemistry?

I had trouble with this too but after looking at the SAQ guide I saw on one of the images associated with this section that the unit titles which were too long were shortened with the appropriate use of 'etc'. In your example above I would type 'Investigative and Practical etc'. If 'Practical' cannot fully fit into the box then write 'Investigative and etc'. I presume that the Unit titles work with the Unit code (which would give more detail than the title) and only help identify the modules you took.
Good luck with your application

I'm intending to leave the extra personal statement thing blank. I am only applying to Cambridge so my whole PS is already geared towards them.

Hello! I've already posted this in History, but I thought it might be better to re-post here.

For my SAQ, I need to know my A2 unit codes - my school's exam officers have very helpfully gone home and there's no way I can contact them before tomorrow (it is my fault, though, as I asked them for the unit names, not codes).

I am doing the Germany 1900-45 course and the depth study/coursework is on the Extension of the Franchise.

If anybody could help, I would be very grateful!

Thank you!

I have a question about the personnal statement we have to write in the SAQ. Do we actually have to write one? And if yes what is the seriousness of this compared to the real personnal statement; as in do we have to spend another week on this making it absolutely perfect or is it more of a just write what you feel like thing.
I ask this because most people at my school wrote something, and I am worried that if I don't I'll come out as uninformed or not interested in what happens with the application. It's not that I'm not interested in it, it's just that I feel like I've said everything already in the UCAS personnal statement, and I don't know what to say to Cambridge that's so special (apart from obvious things like 'I wanna go cuz it's the best uni in the world! and stuff')

Don't worry about it. I suspect that more people don't write one than do.

Is the date taken important? For my biology (aqa) and chemistry (ocr) practicals, I can't remember the exact date. I suppose it may not matter, as different schools do them at different times, just wondering.

Ah right thankyou  Well only 'Investigative and Practical et' fits haha, but as you say it should be clear with the unit code anyway. Good luck to you also

Can anyone tell me how to enter my maths modules if I'm doing Maths on one exam board, and Further Maths AS on a different exam board?

Anyone know what time we have until on Saturday to send the SAQ? Is it 23:59 like the UCAS deadline? I'm obviously not going to leave until the last minute but I want to know if I have until the end of the day.

Go on to your exam boards site- find the PDF with all the grade boundaries and the unit codes are there for each one.

I'm having trouble resizing the image, each time I resize an image it say it is in landscape layout and not portrait, anyone know any good programs and how to resize the image?

Also, my High School only did GCSES, so in the "If you are currently completing qualifications at more than one school/college please give details (max.180 characters including spaces" part should I enter my new school or just leave that blank?

Hello to everyone,

I am a student from Germany and applied to Cambridge. At the moment I try to fill in the SAQ and encounterd some problems. Maybe here are some students not coming from the UK who can help me:smile:
At point 6.6, one has to fill in his A/AS level courses. As I went to school in Germany I had no courses named A/AS level courses. However, I had the German "counterpart" which have other names. Shall I indicate them here? In the UCAS it was said that one should try to give the national counterpart, but here they ask specifically for this type of course, so I am unsure about how to fill it correctly. And, in point 6.7, they ask specifically for Scottish courses, so it seems as if they only want to have information from students attending English/Scottish schools...

THANKS for your help:smile:

Hi I'm Jewish so I need to get my SAQ in by this afternoon because thurs/fri/sat I can't use a computer due to Jewish festivals/Sabbath. I did most of the boring stuff already, but I've just got to the bit where I put in my qualifications and I'm Panicking!!!!
I'm applying for natsci (Physical) and I'm doing my qualifications bit. I'm not sure whether to include the fact that I did M1, because I only got a 63% C, which isn't very good, and I'm taking M2. The only reason I would is because that completes my overall maths A2 level which I did early and got an A. To further complicate things, I think I put it on my ucas as pending. What do I do!!!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm no expert so don't take my word for it, but I'm pretty sure you have to put all your exams that you've taken...

Reply 1395

Do I need to include Critical Thinking AS in the qualifications section? Because I got a U grade. I didn't include it on UCAS because it is unclassified and therefore not certificated but I'm not sure if it needs to go on the SAQ.

Oh yes! Cambridge asks for all results at the module level, whether pass or fail, certificated or not - including re-sits. There is no hiding behind a weak exam system when you apply there.

I didn't realise this when I failed CT. Do you think it will hinder my application?

It won't help it, obviously, but I doubt it is wonderfully significant.

Ok cheers. Next question: do I put in my EPQ? It doesn't have UMS on the results sheet (but I know the raw mark). If so, would it be classified as AS or A-level?

I know you don't know the answers, but you seem like you'd have the best guess

PS. any offers?

Did you put your EPQ in in the end, not sure if we're supposed to
