I really can't help here, I'm still struggling with my SAQ!

Good luck with yours! The confirmation comes about 1 - 2 hours after submission.

Thank you! At least I won't have to wait that much

for the section where it says how have you kept your interest outside your school/ college work. if uve written stuff on your personal stateman can u just remention them briefly? i dont have anything else to add to what i wrote on my statement :frown:

I didn't, I just put in things that I couldn't fit in my personal statement. The way I look at it is they're going to have your UCAS, your work you submit (if you have to), any entrance exam results (if applicable), your SAQ, an ECF (if you needed one) and an interview (if you get one); I think repeating yourself might frustrate them if they have to sift through all of that per applicant - but thats just my opinion! They're not only admissions people, they're admissions people at the best university at the UK, I don't think you'd need to repeat yourself.

In the 'AS/A Level Unit Details' section I have put in all of my units (including the coursework units), but I have a small query.

For the non-coursework units, under the 'date taken' field I just put the date of examination (the month and year that is)

However - for the coursework units, (e.g. Practical Skills in Chemistry, or Physics in Practice Coursework) what do I put under the 'date taken' field, as the coursework effectively ran through most of the AS year - and so there was no distinct date on which we did the coursework. Do I just leave it blank?

Where you have to tell your unit scores, is unit title the element or the component (as written on the statement of results)?

edit: nvm I was looking at the timetable, the statement of results doesn't have the component

Also, I retook one of my exams and got a higher mark, but I can't remember what my original mark was. Do I have to declare it too?

@ukdragon37 and @Loulybob, sorry guys I've expressed myself wrong, by "no extras" I meant doing the course in which 1/2 of your time is CompSci, 1/4 is Maths and remaining 1/4 is Science(Physics in my case) which is indeed CompSci with Natural Sciences, I just had a little misunderstanding, because I thought that "CompSci with Natural Sciences" was doing Maths + CompSci + 2 other sciences, 1/4 each.

Sorry for this derpy moment and good luck with your STEP!

In that case you should choose Computer Science with Natural Sciences in your SAQ  The way you describe is when someone applies to Natural Sciences and chooses Computer Science as one of their papers in first year.

I thought the SAQ was all done online, why are people saying that you have to scan it in or send it by post when you get login details to fill it in? Is it because it's changed since 2007 or something? Because if it has this thread should be destroyed and a new one started.

Hi, I'm applying for medicine, and for the last part of the SAQ, there is a section asking if there is anything else that they should know. I was recently informed that I will be mentioned as a co-author of a journal in medicine at quite a respected conference, should I enter this (at all?). As my teachers say that this is a huge achievement, and I understand that it is, I'm just a little worried that it may seem unnecessary and arrogant?

I am doing Mathematics and Chemistry for A Level as well as OCR ICT National Diploma Level 3 (counts as 2 A Levels). In the qualifications page I have inserted my Mathematics and Chemistry qualifications as well as units, but there seems to be no option for my National Diploma, only AS and A Level. Should I omit my ICT qualification here since it's already in my UCAS form anyway?

For the 'maintaining your interest' question on the SAQ, have people generally listed all the different things they've done, or go slightly more into detail (i.e. give examples of books read) on one or two? The space is far too short!! Also, I only have a very rough idea of future careers (I'd like to go into academia, probably), is there any point in putting that down? :/

I think you put the date it was entered- this is probably on a results sheet somewhere- I did my biology coursework in October, but wrote down the next June

Guys, could someone please tell me when they ask you for AS/A-level modules to be completed are they asking for the exams your preparing for in Jan? Not June? Because at my school we do both Physics exams in June meaning that I am studying for both modules currently but they will be completed in June...

Also, how much detail do we go into in Maths/Further Maths when mentioning topics? The examples are kinda vague for Maths...

Thanks in advance

I was wondering if you could help me with some information regarding my SAQ. I finished my A levels this summer, however, due to extenuating circumstances I did not get the grades that I wanted. I therefore decided to retake my A2 levels again. Furthermore because my family moved during this period I had to move to a different college to repeat my A2 levels. My new college didn't offer the exam boards that I had previously studied in two of subjects, so I had to change them. Due to all of this, I am having difficulties filling out the SAQ and have a few questions for you, if you are able to answer them. First of all, in the education section on page 2 it requires we include the topics and class size at A2 and AS level and I'm uncertain whether to include the topics and class size of my current college or my previous school, as it doesn't allow me to do both. Could you perhaps clarify which one I have to do? Furthermore in the section regarding "Have there been any difficulties with the teaching of your subjects at AS/A Level or equivalent?" what exactly is meant here? As I mentioned before i have extenuating circumstances, however, it wasn't the quality of the teaching that was a problem, rather my own health problems. Lastly, in the Qualifications sections, would I include my A2 module results or not, as I am retaking them and because I am now taking them with a different exam board it will not let me add both.

HELP! I only have a matter of days to complete this!

I think that they mean all of the A2 modules that you will be taking this year - so you would include both of your physics exams. And yeah, I thought the examples were kind of vague for maths too. I only did maths, and I put just like: differentiation, integration, coordinate geometry, trig, logs, probability, algebra, probability and distributions....

And yeah - I got the email today too! It made me panic!! It has scared me into filling everything in at least (well... apart from the personal statement bit...)

I put it as may/2012 for my practical skills in physics, because that was the deadline for submitting my ISA or something like that :/

EDIT: My post is a bit late but erm yh

Guys (and girls),

On my SAQ, I said that I "will be competing in a competition", and submitted it last week.
I won the competition yesterday.

Do I email the college, or just try to mention it briefly at interview?

Unless it's an absolutely huge thing (that will make them give you a nice unconditional offer before the interview, perhaps:wink:), I think probably it isn't worth emailing about- if you get the oppurtunity to mention it at the interview, though, I'd imagine that would be fine
