How can we use the molecular ion peak from the mass spetrum to determine the molecular formula?

All it tells you is the relative formula mass of the compound, you need more information to work out its structure

This determination enables to find out the kinds of atoms and their numbers in a molecule, but to find out the formula, so the structure of it, molecular ion peak in a mass spectrum is not sufficient. It is like you got the bricks without to know the form of a house.
