Is it even slightly realistic to think you can get a B in Chemistry if you dedicate a whole year to the one subject and retake it?

Considering a year is the standard amount of time for an A Level (and there's usually 3/4!) I don't see why not

It's probably possible, I have a friend who got Es in both A2 units and Cs in both AS units, she got a C overall. This was the old spec though so I'm not sure about the new spec.

Definitely. If I get an E I am definitely retaking at least 1 or 2 of the papers.

An E is 40-49% of the available UMS, and you need 70% for a B. So if you got extremely high scores in the A2 year (depending on your UMS score in the AS year - minimum 91-100%), you could get a B overall.

But if you're capable of getting 91%+ on the A2 year, surely you'd be better off retaking the AS year, getting 80% or more and getting an A* instead?
