5a (ii) I don't understand how to address the second and fourth bullet points.

What safety precautions need to be considered when using the diode in this instance, and how can a data logger be used to our advantage?

Data Loggers are handy devices as they can make precise and accurate measurements, as well as record data in a much faster pace than humans. I'm fairly sure diodes need to be wired in correctly to avoid overheating and frying of the diode.
