    When i studied conflict it helped me to go through the poems and note down a summary of what it actually said, a summary of the meaning (may be different to what is said- e.g. Belfast Confetti poem which talks about punctuation but is about conflict) and then note down extended metaphors, similes, personification, linguistic devices etc...
