Haven't done Christmas Carol those but i will give you some general advice which can boost your grade.
1) Don't quote massive sentences, quote 'word' or 'phrases' and link these to other parts of the play and novel. Comparing and contrasting does wonders and you get tons of marks because you are using 'judicious' range of evidence and references.
2) Never say 'Macbeth does this'. That is incorrect and shows you lack understanding of the play. always write, 'Shakespeare presents Macbeth as...' and that will automatically bump up your grade to a 6 at least if you are consistent and explain your point well.
3) For Macbeth, I learnt how to compare between characters so not only do you use quotes but you also compare characters e.g.
Macbeth to Macduff. Lets say Macbeth is emotionally weak when he says 'Out brief candle' or smth like that when Lady Macbeth dies whereas Macduff says 'But I must feel it like a man' highlighting his nobility and that he is a true nobleman.
i'm sorry I can't help you a lot and my points are kinda messed up because I haven't written them like i should but I have my exams as well. Just follow the general advice your teachers gave you as well as what I said and you should be getting a solid 7. Good luck tmrw.
