Attachment 666130Basically, I want to deal with this myself without disturbing anyone... but I have a fear of spiders and don't want to touch it or make it jump/run away before I can catch/kill it.

    Any suggestions??

Best just make an attempt at catching it; get something with a large surface area and trap it underneath, then leave it for the night.

Put a glass very gently over it, then slide some cardboard between the floor or wall or whatever and the glass to keep it secured.

Then take it outside, quite far from your house/flat and let it go.

grab a glass and place it on top of the spider. Once in the glass grab a piece of paper and cover the top so it can't escape. Open the windows and let it outside..

Boil the kettle. I'm terrified of them too [ didn't look at the attachment]. The water has to be boiling hot. Throw it up the wall at it or wherever it is. It will kill it instantly, and you can do so from a relatively safe distance. I hate them. They are monsters.

Yes it does! Use it to demobilize it then mash mash mash.

UPDATE: turns out that my parents are surprisingly cool about being woken up 1am to deal with a spider.

Side note: hairspray does NOT work to kill it - it just crawled away.

For future reference a cup/bowl over it and then stick something heavy on top... then you know it won't escape in the night and you can get someone else to actually pick it up later
