Sleep and eating

Both are pretty messed up and I can't seem to get a grasp on them.

My sleep has been a problem for a year now. Last September I was hardly sleeping at all (about two hours a night), it was complete hell. Now the actual sleeping part isn't too bad, cos once I'm asleep I can usually stay in a very deep sleep so thats OK. It's just that my rountine is a mess; I can't get to before 3am normally (last night was 5.30) even though I've tried to relax and wind down and everything before hand. So I find it near impossible to get up and a normal hour, and really struggle with the motivation cos I've got nothing to get up for. I'm always tired. No doctor will give me sleeping tablets (I've got a history of overdosing) so I kinda feel stuck. It's so stressful not being able to get into a routine.

I dunno what's with my eating. I really really want to be thin, and I've put a lot of wieght on over the past year. I hate my body. Basically I think I'm treating food as a form of self-harm. I see food as 'bad' because I want to loose weight and also I used to be a dancer. So I end up not eating anything or when I do eat I completely stuff my face of ****. most of the time I can't stop myself from eating. Again I struggle with the motivation to eat healthy and exercise (maybe cos I think it's never gona happen and I don't deserve that). I'm far too ashamed about this to speak to the doctor.

Does anyone have any advice on what I could do?

you really should speak to your doctor. there is nothing at all to be ashamed of. if anything you will feel pride for being able to admit you need help. i did

But I'm not exactly sure whats wrong. What would I be diagnosed with?

Reply 3

it would be next to be impossible for me to tell you. the doctor will be able to help. please go

You'll only find out by asking them. Alternatively you could speak to NHS Direct but they'd probably advise you to actually see a doctor.

not entirely sure, but they could help with the sleeping and establishing a routine thing.

Any advice apart from going to see a doctor?

try to establish a routine for yourself, and tire yourself out in the day. thats the best advice i can give.

I find that keeping a diary has helped me immensly, writing in it before bed etc or when I just need to get things off my chest really helps me to clear my head, wind down and relax, it also helps me deal with alot of things.

You need to eat, as obvious as it is you have to. If you want to loose weight start eating more balanced meals and working out, you have to realise that food is not an enemy.

Seeing a doctor is probably the best advice anyone can give you, there is nothing they havn't seen or heard before, they might be able to refer you to a counceller you could see regulary, it always helps to have someone to talk to
