Check the Cambridge website for details on which colleges ask for written work for your subject as well!

Hey I am concerned that I have not received an email / letter asking for written work from my college! I am applying for Economics at Fitzwilliam college, and wondering perhaps not every college requires written work? can anyone confirm this for me please? thank you very much in advance

Economics at Pembroke does not require any written work.
In fact most colleges do not require it: http://www.cam.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/courses/economics/tests.html

YAY
What does it mean by preparatory study at interview though?
My admission tutor also quickly skimmed through the fact that I would take a TSA but she didnt really clarify what it was..

lol you really are bitter about having to write written work aren't you! :P
to be fair, I still haven't filled in the SAQ yet.. I haven't really researched Fitzwilliam college / the course at all... all I know is that Fitzwilliam is really far out from the city centre.. I know that much.

Did you do an open application? Fitz is lovely. Modern but really friendly and laid back. It's about 15 minutes from the town centre.

Not really! Well, slightly...

From what I have heard, the preparatory study at interview is likely to involve you being given an article to read before your interview, and then you answering questions on it.
And the TSA is essentially a logic test, you can check it out here: http://tsa.ucles.org.uk/

Oh and they're not allowed to ask why you chose a specific college in your interview, so don't worry about researching it for that reason. You probably want to know whether you like it there though for your own sake.

lol I applied to Fitzwiliam because my mate's sister goes there and highly recommended it! I also checked out its statistics of intake of Economics students and the chances of getting in was recommendable.. although I've been told not to play the number game  I wanted to apply to a traditional college like St Johns but I've been told that its harder to get in and people are snobbish there (?!) hmmm. Its far away from the city centre though, that in the offchance that I do get in, I'll probably buy a bicycle ahah

COOL tingz, thanks for the link. Just had a quick look at the past papers and it looks like critical thinking all over again! I thought I saw the back of CT when I finished the exam last summer.. looks like I was SO very, very wrong. :frown:

Fitz is awesome, and it's only about 10-15 minutes' walk from town, so it's not too bad. Oh and you really shouldn't try and play the statistics game, Fitzwilliam had the most competitive statistics out of every college for my subject this year (2 got in out of 25), but the statistics don't tell the whole truth. Only problem with Fitz this year is that it is, apparently, 80:20 Male:Female, and it is a little bit of a sausage-fest.
