So I sent a message on the football whatsapp group regarding a match for this Sunday:
"Mike is playing on Sunday".
To which a man in the chat group says "was he sleeping till now".
lol I find that rude and disrespectful to Mike.
This man has been rude and disrespectful to me in the past too.
What can I say back to "was he sleeping till now"?
He can't start swearing at me otherwise the others members will kick him out.

Why do you care? Leave Mike to fend for himself and get on with your life.
It's great that you want to defend Mike in his absence and you should. Tell him to be respectful of others and if he wants to say something, say it when Mike is there. We all know the word to call him if he still continues.
Mike is not on the chat so he can't answer back.
Anyway, the man is a bully and I hope all the members of my football team know what he's really like.
