There should be an accomodation office, either run by your students' union or by the university itself. If you contact them, they will have lists of landlords and people looking to form groups to rent shared houses.

Contact the accomodation people again. I don't think this should happen as most universities have accomodation for all first year students.

    Accommodation - 2 Cs 2Ms, no middle A

On a less ranty, more practical note: as you are going to an area with lots of temporary accommodation such as B&Bs then you could see whether one of them will do you a month long deal whilst you look for a more permanent place. If you are really stuck then the accommodation office at the institution will try to help but it can't conjure a bed out of thin air.

    try this:
    http://www.accommodationforstudents.com/

I have nowhere to live either... my uni somehow doesn't send forms for people who put as there insurance.. so I'm ****ed..and I don't want to share an apartment..I don't know ANYONE in the UK, so I want to live in halls..
but there is a waiting list at my uni's accommodation office that opens on the 20/9 in the morning, so I'll try my luck for the halls there...
