In the aftermath of the Grenfell disaster, no-one will want to live in the Grenfell tower even though it is likely to be structurally sound and can be refurbished.

I propose that the tower is demolished entirely and a fitting memorial built in it's place. A new tower (like the New York Freedom tower principle) to dominate the London skyline but with social housing none of which should be privately owned - ever.

A permanent reminder and tribute: that safety cannot be taken for granted, that eradication of social injustice must be at the core of British values, of the courage and bravery of our emergency services that they, along with the NHS, are institutions no government in office can afford to treat with contempt, and that the unity of people is the beacon which so clearly transcends race, creed and culture.
