Best fundamental upwards physics books

Hey, fellow physics people! I am suffering from an appalling dilemma: I LOVE physics, I HATE A-level physics...:confused:
This dichotomy has lead me to seek guidance on what interesting physics books I could read that cover A-level content but aren't cripplingly dull. I am going to do the option turning points so all that juicy Einstein, Maxwell, Plank stuff would be nice.

Any advice would be appreciated!
The Roger Muncaster A level textbook is definitely a step up from a the standard textbook yet covers all the same topics. You will need Vector Calculus to get into the 'juicy' details of the topics you have mentioned which I presume you do not have currently. So keep up your maths and read popular science books to keep the interest going. ( e.g A brief history of time)
