Citizens advice bureau ... they'll help you figure out whats going on and help you get your money back

Your workplace might have taxed you wrongly, in which you'll have to file a claim reimbursing what you lost
Have you been taxed? Is there a cutoff point for your pay? Did you pay NI?

They have paid me ÂŁ445.81 and after tax it is ÂŁ356.81. There is no NI charges on my pay slip.

I have asked my cousin to calculate too and he said they should of paid me ÂŁ613.5. I have also came to this figure too but the manager keeps denying it somehow. Im really confused and stressed. :frown:

Wow I'd be hella pissed if that happened...that's like working ÂŁ4-5 an hour

Like I said though go to citizens advice bureau they'll give you the legal steps to get your money back

I am so stressed about this. Our store manager is away for a week so i have to deal with the other store managers which are quite bad. Being taxed quite a lot for a part time job is a bit stupid, i guess.. :/

Basically then, you have been taxed when you shouldnt have. You have been given the wrong tax code, either you have been emergency taxed or the tax office are assuming you earn over the threshold and should pay tax. Phone up the tax office on 0300 200 3300 to get your tax code changed and to get the tax back that you are owed. Make sure you have your pay slip and national insurance number to hand.

You should have been given a letter when you started to declare if this is your first job this tax year or not. Which option did you choose? As the other post said you shouldn't have paid tax. Phone HMRC, get put on the correct code and you'll get the tax refunded through one of your next wages.

Right so I did the calcs

You did get paid correctly except for the tax which HMRC can sort out.

You 4th week is after the cutoff date

(This means for example any hours worked after the 20th of June would be in the July paycheck not the June paycheck)

Hey man!

Thanks for your time calculating but the cut-off date is 22nd Thursday June. So i should of gotten 'week 4' paid. There is another employee who has started same as me and we met each other in induction. I told me he has gotten paid ÂŁ880 or something before TAX and we have been doing similar hours. So my thoughts are 'Did they mix his and my payment?' if so that's just argh! :/
