From what I've seen and heard, it'd have to be the USA, but do you mean arrogant as in a country's superiority complex towards other countries, or the general attitude of people in their day to day lives?

Both I guess.

Usa...

USA by some margin.
I guess that's just predictable though as they have more to be arrogant about-the status of their country. But I 'spose it'd be better to assess general arrogance, attitudes, mannerisms etc.

Most of the Anglo-Saxon world to be honest.

Is NZ not a cool place to be then?
wesetters
I would hate to live there.

Oh yeah, why?

Scotland.

Scotland.

Why?
Either Australia or the USA. For sport it's Australia for everything else it's USA.

I've got some friends who recently moved up there (from Hertfordshire), and they have said that there is a very strong nationalist (particularly anti-English) sentiment.

For example, in Remembrance Sunday there is a move (I'm not sure whether it's been enacted or not) to get all profits from Poppies to go to just Scottish veterans, as opposed to, say, England, where profits go to any veteran of Britain or the Commonwealth. Also, there's been stuff like 'Safeway for Scotland', and more generally they say that there's just a feeling of superiority, especially over the English.

I realise that it's quite a large generalisation to claim all this just from anecdotal evidence, but it seems to be pretty widespread.

Agreed. I really can't stand the "Aussie aussie aussie, oi oi oi!" chant
And I don't think being a "big", "advanced" nation gives you the right to police the rest of the world.

I'm a bit concerned about how people are just posting their chosen country but not giving evidence for it... kudos for the people that have, I have more reason to see your point of view.

I'd go for the USA. Some stupidly small percentage of residents in the USA have actually gotten out of the country. We always seem to be in debt to them for "what they did in the war for us", but when you read into it, it's actually not that much at all - they did it for THEIR benefit, not ours.

It's so, so insular. Like the rest of the world doesn't exist. Hate that, I'd feel so cut off from the real world.

Yeah I've heard that said about NZ. Is France not like that then?

Thing is, the USA is SO massive and the culture pretty different across different States, that for many, there's so much to see in their own country so why bother going away?!
wesetters
Not at all. But then France is in the middle of Europe, whereas NZ is thousands of kilometres from anywhere.

I know, but I figure you still must be able to get culture+news from Europe and the US in NZ. Mabe not though.

From the options above, the Scottish. Speaking as one of them.
