Poem

Me girl broke up with me about 2 weeks ago... says she needs time for fun and other lads.... I really want her back and have told her this a number of times. Couldn't sleep last night and she always said she wanted me to do something special when we had argued... so I wrote a poem.

Should I send it to her? Or is it just cheesy and stupid?! If she laughs at it, (she wont) I'm just being paranoid... it's my last bit of dignity going to her really aint there.... upto her what she does with it?! Agree?

"says she needs time for fun and other lads" - yeah, FUN - not poems.

Honestly, do not send it. Please.

What you mean?

I think you answered your own question. She told you she doesn't want to be with you. Giving her a poem won't change that, it'll just make you look pathetic.

Reply 4

I think you should walk away. If she has made up her mind poetry will not change that.

At best she will feel sorry for you, at worst you will sound desperate.

It does sound a little like you are on different levels about the relationship. She wants fun and 'other lads' and you want to write her a romantic poem as a big gesture...

Yeah but she also said, I don't do anything to try getting her back...?!?

Wish I hadn't asked.... can't explain it properly on here.... we were on exactly the same level about the relationship and then she just called it off as she got a new place to work and was going out more... I'm not arsed about that but she don't think it's fair on me. She still loves me.

What if she doesn't want to be got back?

Either she's made up her mind that she's gone for good or she's playing games so you doubt yourself. In either case you are better off without her.

Reply 8

Definately not better of without her.... she's amazing!

If you want her back then you'd be much better off finding another girl and flaunting her in front of your ex. The hotter the better. It's pretty unethical (and kinda mean to the new girl) but it'll work. Well, it might not work, but it will certainly be a considerably better move than sending her poetry and is about a thousand times more likely to work.

The reason she broke up with you is not because of the lack of poetry you wrote her; it's because you probably turned into a bit of a girl and started to become a total pushover and therefore a little boring. I guarantee that the next guy she gets with will not be someone who buys her roses and meals - in fact, it will be someone who probably doesn't care that much about her but with whom she will always have fun.

That's all probably quite hard to accept, but it's also probably true. Thing is, by the sound of it you've screwed this up quite a lot already so it might be beyond repair. If so, just learn from your mistakes for future girls!

Nah, it's the opposite. I'm the type that doesn't buy flowers and do the pictures often and meals and stuff. I'm the type that we just have loadsa fun being together and being ourselves. She always used to say I should do summin special like a poem on valentines day... or random flowers... I think that's what she missed... there was always fun, she'd tell you that.

Don't send her poetry. Or flowers. Or love letters. Or framed pictures of you together.

It's just an awful idea.

Reply 12

I know its hard, but you are not together any more. It may have been amazing while it lasted, but like Sehnsucht so nicely put it - you didn't break up because of a lack of poetry.

All that will happen is you will make a fool of yourself and regret it.

I had an ex-boyfriend who actually broke up with me, but then changed his mind and tried to win me back with soppy text messages and letters. I won't forget that in a hurry, but not because I was bowled over with love...

Fair do's. Cheers... just seems that trying anything is better than standing back and doing nothing!!! YOu're supposed to try aint you?!?

Reply 14

Dont give her the poem - it won't mean anything to her and you'll just get hurt.

If you meant nothing to her then what would a few words do? nothing, you'll end up being upset.

Reply 15

I'm sure I mean something to her.... can't be a lot though can it? If she just wanted to **** it all off so she can have some fun....

moral of the story... DO NOT DATE BIRDS YOUNGER THAN YOURSELF!

O, precious ex who left me for other lads and fun
Come back to me and mend my heart, now broken
You always said you wanted me to do something special
And here it is; your own poem, isn't it graceful?

Sounds good to me :yy: You can make it iambic pentameter 'n all. Real potential.
