regarding grades

My understanding is that resits are capped at 40%, but assuming you pass, then the actual mark they use is the one from your first attempt. Thats my understanding from when I was looking through the regulations. They were very poorly written.

Go and talk to a student advisor or your department , the exam office or a student advisor to get confirmation or download the rules from the website.
