Some questions

Please keep this as anonymous

My doctor has prescribed me something called Fortisip to help with my eating disorder. But I was wondering has anyone else had to take it? Did it work for you?? She said she was unsure how effective it would be but wanted to try it on me.

Also apparently it contains the RDA of vitamins but I feel uncomfortable not taking my normal vitamin tablets so is there any danger in having more than the RDA of vitamins.

Also if a doctor were to tell your university about your eating disorder would that be breaking confidentiality?

Thank you for your answers

presuming the product contains all the normal RDA of vitamins (and minerals?) then by taking another multi-vitamin, yes, you will be overdosing on some of them. There's some where it doesn't matter too much - e.g. notably if you get excess vitamin c your body will just get rid of the excess - but there are others where it's really not good for you to have more than the RDA becuase you can't get rid of the extra in the same way; it'd just build up

ok to answer each question in turn...

it's a nutritional supplement. but I don't think it's going to do you any harm to take a multivit aswell. but it's not going to actually help your eating disorder directly, it should just make it easier for you to get the nutrients you need if you're not able to get them from food right now. i've taken something similar and yes it's easier, no you shouldn't rely on it. you need to learn to eat a regular balanced diet in the end.

yes your doctor would be breaking confidentiality. your uni shouldn't have to be involved if you don't want them to be.
