Is this a hernia?

I've got this discomfort (like something's being twisted) just below my sternum bone and its now painful to bend over onto my chest, i.e. if I slouch over a desk it hurts and becomes difficult to breath without pain. I was up most of last night working on my laptop, so I think sitting in an awkward position has caused it. Im not bothered about going to a doctor, I just wanted to know if it was something quite common, and what I could do to relieve it

p.s. I don't have heartburn so don't ask me to try antacids! Somethings definately shifted into the wrong place, thats what I think.

I'd just wait until tomorrow and consult a doctor if you can't breathe without pain.

I had that feeling once, having fallen awkwardly when playing football. Breathing made my lungs hurt, as if something was poking them. It went away though. Sounds like you just need a good stretch, to me.

Also: A hernia is defined by the appearance of an organ or tissue protruding through it's outer walls, usually in the abdominal region, so it's not that.

A good stretch is not a bad idea. I'll give that a go.
