    Personal Statements should be withdrawn from UCAS. They waste time for both uni and student, aswell as your school!

    They have very, if any, effect on your offers etc!!

    The admissions tutor for law at University College London told me the personal statement can be "pivotal" to an application.

    For Edinburgh University, if you are applying to Medicine, they decide whether your suitable or not based on your personal statement, as they don't do any interviews!!!!

    Depends a *lot* on your course. For English, it was reiterated to me so many times that the PS is frequently a major deciding factor in whether or not to make an offer.

    Most admissions tutors probably discard a number of applications on the basis of GCSE/AS grades and A2 predictions without studying the PS closely.
