Hi, so I am 17 years old and I have just been offered (within the last hour) a job for both Waitrose and Clarks. Both involve the exact same number of hours and I do not really have a preference in terms of type of work. So, how much does each store pay (hourly) for an under 18 year old?

EDIT: I previously worked at Supedrug and the pay was £5.68 - I also have a friend that used to work at Clarks and he said the pay was £7.50, however this was over a year ago. In addition to this, I have a friend that works at a supermarket (but not Waitrose) who said she is paid just over £8.

Thanks

I'm going to guess £4.05

I don't imagine either has any real reason to pay more than minimum.

I'd check if there are any other perks such as a staff discount or access to staff incentive/reward schemes.

Failing that, whichever is closer to home.

I'm not sure, as I don't work for either of these, but I do work at another high street store and I am paid the national minimum wage as I am 18 (£5.60 per hour). Although there is no official minimum wage for under 18's (it used to be school leavers age - 16 - until they increased this to 18 years old), the government's guideline wage for under 18's is £4.05.
So, I would imagine that they would pay you somewhere between those two wages, depending on if you get any additional benefits as part of the role (holidays, paid transport, discounts etc.).
