Good morning everyone!
Not a nice topic to get onto but my depression is just there, it comes and goes however, it's there.
We all get old I understand that, I've been a carer for 4 years. Looking after people with dementia, I've seen how understaffed it is, 3 of us to look after 37 people!!!
My last shift there was horrendous!!! Staff go sick, we are under paid which isn't and incentive for people to join in the first place! So new staff come in and they leave.
We can't physically get to everyone when they ask to, we near enough have to rush the elderly otherwise we get moaned at!
They are covered in piss and poo because we just physically can't get to them in time! There's so much of a routine that we follow that they end up with pressure on their bums?? That followed with the chemicals from the urine and poo, makes it sore for them!
I say this because I'm scared, I'm scared for my future and will I get dementia???
In certain situations, dementia can be worse than cancer! Imagine your own vicious little bubble inside your head that you can escape from??? Imagine forgetting who your own children are?
I say this because I'm nervous for the future?
Any thoughts??
